Deck Department

The deck department is comprised solely of Boatswains.  These Bosn’s have a vast number of duties onboard ALGONQUIN ranging from ships husbandry (the cleanliness and general maintenance of the ship), to Boat Cox’n for man overboard rescue, to operator of the ship’s .50 calibur Heavy Machine Gun.  Most of the Bosn’s day is spent doing seamanship duties, such as rope work, rigging, small arms, explosives training, painting, and small boat handling with Zodiac and Rigid Inflatable Boats.  During any seamanship evolution at sea, you will find the Bosn’s hard at work leading the ship’s other sailors.
