  • Naval task group assists in Haiti relief effort
    HMC Ships Athabaskan and Halifax, carrying 500 sailors, soldiers, airmen and airwomen, arrived in Haiti January 19, 2010 as the maritime component of the CF response to the devastating earthquake that struck the country January 12.


  • Canadian warship to join coalition fleets
    HMCS Fredericton departed October 25, 2009 for a six-month mission to the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean as part of ongoing efforts to provide maritime security abroad.

  • HMCS Calgary sails on three-month deployment
    ESQUIMALT, B.C.  - HMCS Calgary set sail August 17 for a three-month deployment to Central and South America. An important stop in September will be Panama, where the ship will join other navies for PANAMAX 2009, a joint multinational exercise which runs from September 13-21.

  • Canada participates in Australia-US naval exercise
    The view from the bridge wing is deceptively calm. There are clear skies and an empty blue ocean in all directions from HMCS Winnipeg, as far as the eye can see. There are few clues to the fact that just beyond the horizon, thousands of marines are landing on sandy beaches determined to repel an invading force from allied territory.
