  • Australian frigates exercise with East Coast ships
    HALIFAX -- Royal Australian Navy (RAN) frigates Sydney and Ballarat recently arrived in Canadian waters as part of a six-month international deployment in support of diplomatic, international security and defence industry interests in Western Europe, North America and North Asia.

    The Government of Canada has authorized HMCS Winnipeg, currently conducting counter-piracy operations in the coastal region of Somalia, to conduct a naval escort of a UN World Food Programme (WFP) ship carrying life-saving supplies to Somalia.

  • Supply ship departs on Pacific deployment
    The supply ship HMCS Protecteur departed her home port of Esquimalt, B.C., this week for a three-month deployment to the western Pacific Ocean. A highlight of the deployment will be a port visit in Qingdao, China, to participate in the International Fleet Review from April 19 to 23. This review provides an opportunity for navies of the Pacific region to foster bonds of friendship and share views on common maritime issues.
